Hello! We are the General Store, Selkirk in the Scottish Borders – and we are a Repairmonger.
Yes, that’s right, finally somewhere you can get things fixed!
What do we fix? Well, if you can bring it in, we can take a look, with only a few exceptions. And if we can’t fix it, there’s no fee.
Our repair team is very busy. We do our best to turn around your fixes quickly but can’t always guarantee it. To help with that we have our Courtesy Item Service. We can loan many types of items while we are fixing yours at no cost. Just ask us when you drop off your repair!
We keep our repair fees down by selling second-hand donations and a few locally hand-made goods in our two retail spaces. We sell everything from garden tools, ornaments and bric a brac to small electrical items, laptops, tablets and more.
However we don’t just repair – we carry out several other activities to help reduce landfill and support our community.
We operate a Tool Library where, for a small membership fee of £25 you can borrow all sorts of items rather than buy.
And we have a Computer Clinic where people can get low cost or free help with their technology.
We can also offer home visits for tech support in Selkirk.
We are a Community Interest Company. This means that any profit we make goes back to support our purposes – repairing, keeping things out of landfill and supporting our town of Selkirk.
